Lesson 157: It’s Ok To Quit Early

Lesson 157: It’s Ok To Quit Early
The world, gurus, coaches have made it seem like a bad thing to quit. There might be times quitting isn’t the right option but that isn’t always. There are times we have to quit. The project might just not be the right fit. There’s no need to push hard and stick it out to see how things go. It’s ok to stop, quit and move on. The longer you hold on, the more sunk cost fallacy will set it. It’s ok to quit early. Take the lesson and move on.
PROMPT: What did you quit on today? Why?

Lesson 156: Listen More. Speak Less.

Lesson 156: Listen More. Speak Less.
We need to listen more especially in a world where we all have our own megaphone right in our hands. We all have an audience. We all have people waiting to hear what we have to share. It feels good, sure but we need to learn to listen more. we need to take time out to do what is important.
PROMPT: How much listening did you do today? What one thing stood out the most for you while listening?

Lesson 155: Know When To Cut Your Losses

Lesson 155: Know When To Cut Your Losses
Sunk Cost Fallacy is real. Individuals commit the sunk cost fallacy when they continue a behavior or endeavor as a result of previously invested resources (time, money, or effort) (Arkes & Blumer, 1985). Just because we’ve put in something doesn’t mean we should keep putting in more till we get the result we want even though it’s evident we won’t get that result. We need to learn to cut our losses, take the lesson learned and move on.
PROMPT: How do you decide when to cut your losses?

Lesson 154: Humans Are Fallible

Lesson 154: Humans Are Fallible
Well, you might not like this but we all know it: people will disappoint you. The thing about being human is that we are fallible. We are not perfect. We will mess up. So when someone disappoints you rather than lose your shit, sit bad and remind yourself you are dealing with a human being and they are fallible. It’s ok. It sucks but you can’t lose your head because someone that promised to show up didn’t.
PROMPT: When was the last time you were disappointed? What happened? How did you handle it?

Lesson 153:  Know When To Be A Don’ter

Lesson 153:  Know When To Be A Don’ter
In the film, Pain, and Gain, there’s a scene where a “guru” says there are two types of people: doers and don’t’ers. If you haven’t seen the film, be sure to check it out. Anyway, we should take opportunities as they show up. They don’t always come. However, we need to know when to say no. Not just say no but actually mean it and stick to it. Remember, the cost of the things you do are the things you didn’t do. So if you say no to something, you get the opportunity to say yes to something else.
PROMPT: What are you not a “don’ter” for (basically, what won’t you not do)?
