Lessons With A King

Every day we wake up is another day we are given to stack up success. Now, you don’t have to go jumping from planes or building skyscrapers. It’s ok to start small and build. We find what works for us and we work towards achieving that. What we need to do is have our task list and check them off as we complete them. Each check delivers an amazing feeling. It does for me at least and I’m sure it will for you too.

PROMPT: What success did you create today?

I don’t know about you but I totally love being counted on. I love know I have friends and loved ones that will not hesitate to reach out to me when things are not so great because they know I’ll show up. I also see that as a gift so it is something I have to live up to. The thing about being reliable is that you get to build momentum. Bit by bit, you take care of one tiny thing,, then another slightly bigger thing and on and on. Also you get to learn lots in the process.

PROMPT: What do you do to ensure you deliver what you promised?

If you love your job, awesome. Keep it. Enjoy it. We need to pay the bills. However, if you are struggling every morning because you dread going to work, maybe it’s time you found a better job. It isn’t about quitting the one you have now. Again, we need to pay the bills but it’s working towards that job you want. It might be getting a new set of skills. It might mean starting your own business. Whatever it is you have to do, do it to get to that job that will give you peace of mind. We shouldn’t struggle mentally to do our work.

PROMPT: How do you define a better job?

The first draft is done, congratulations but as I said yesterday, you are not done yet. There’s still some work to do. That first draft has to be read with intent. It will hurt but you’ll have to be super honest with yourself. Things that don’t make sense to you, the one person that knows the entire story, will make even less sense to others to figure those out. Cut out things that are taking too much space. Take things slow and then build. Bit by bit and you’ll have that finished version you can show.

PROMPT: What are you currently “rewriting”?

No one ever shares that first draft. Well, maybe some people do but that’s a rare occurrence. When you want to do something, when an idea is pushing to come out, what you need to do is put it out. That first version is for you to see what the idea really is, what it’s trying to be. However, it won’t come out if you don’t take responsibility and finish that first draft. However, you should know that the first draft is only the beginning and you have some more work to do.
