Lesson 218: Know Your Smallest Viable Audience

Lesson 218: Know Your Smallest Viable Audience
Know the smallest amount you need to accomplish your goals. Know the smallest amount you need to “win”. If your target is 4 people, focus on getting the four people. If you get more, great. If you get less, you know you have work to do. Understand this: the smallest viable amount is up to you. The decision is all yours so don’t feel pushed by anyone to do what you don’t want to. Once you have your smallest viable audience, focus on giving them value.
PROMPT: Do you know your smallest viable audience?

Lesson 217: Lift Your Team Up

Lesson 217: Lift Your Team Up
Congratulations, you now have a team. That’s awesome! Love it. The issue is that it doesn’t just end there. It is important to make sure that you actually have extra in the tank to carry the team. It is also important to know what fuels members of your team. We are all different people so what works for A might not work for B. Once you know what fuels them, give that to them because they’ll need to be fired up to go from where they are to the goal.
PROMPT: How did you lift your last team up?

Lesson 216: No One Will Care For Your Thing As Much As You Do

Lesson 216: No One Will Care For Your Thing As Much As You Do

This lesson will make your life a lot easier. Understanding that no one will care for your thing as much as you do spares you the disappointment that comes from expecting more from people than they can or are willing to give. That thing you love might mean the world to you but to someone, it’s “shit”. This fact makes it difficult to get a team together, so how do you go about it? Well, my approach is to make the goal desirable to everyone on the team. I make the team members see how we can all grow and benefit from getting to that goal. When we all see this goal as our goal, the team flourishes.

PROMPT: What can you do to get your teammates to see your goal as theirs too?

Lesson 215: Do It Three Times

Lesson 215: Do It Three Times
If you want to do something, don’t give up on the first try. Keep trying. At least do it three times. I learned something: Huh? What? Ohhh…. The first time you try something, it’s difficult, it’s strange, it’s something you don’t feel comfortable but then you try it again and it gets just a bit easier and on and on till it becomes second nature. The only way to get good at anything is to do it over and over, picking up from mistakes and building on them.
PROMPT: What will you put more effort into next?

Lesson 214: Don’t Fear The Abyss

Lesson 214: Don’t Fear The Abyss
It can be a struggle to reach out for help, to talk to someone, especially when you need it. But I know that reaching out for help and accepting help isn’t a sign of weakness. Depression can be difficult. Just dealing with any mental health challenge is difficult. We should be open to help and reaching out when we can.
PROMPT: Do you talk to a therapist?
