Lesson 116: Be Prepared To Walk Away

Lesson 116: Be Prepared To Walk Away
Whenever you are in a negotiation, you should always be prepared to walk away. Know where your limit/minimum is and keep it at. Once we get below this point, I’m walking away. It lets you negotiate from a place of strength. Listen to them, take it in but then always be ready to walk away if need be.
Prompt: What was the last thing you walked away from? Why did you walk away? How difficult was it? Why? #LessonsWithAKing

Lesson 115: Don’t Take It Personal

Lesson 115: Don’t Take It Personal
It’s not about you. It’s not about you. When someone says something that pricks, it’s because you decide to take it personally. There’s no need to. Say you show your work and someone says something about it, remember, it’s about the work, not about you. Plus if someone criticizes your work and doesn’t give you a reason, then they probably have no clue what they are talking about. It’s not about you.
Prompt. What was the last thing you took personally that in retrospect you know you should not have? #LessonsWithAKing

Lesson 114: Give With No Strings Attached

Lesson 114: Give With No Strings Attached
When you give, expect nothing in return. If you give because you plan to get something in return, don’t. If it has already happened, find a gift to give with no expectation and give that too. Expecting something after giving a gift makes life difficult. Just give and let go.
Prompt: What was the last gift you gave? Did you expect anything in return? If yes, give something else without any expectations. #LessonsWithAKing

Lesson 113: Focus On The Things You Can Control

Lesson 113: Focus On The Things You Can Control
In life we can group things into three categories: Things We Can Control, Things We Can Kinda Control and Things We Can’t Control. We should completely ignore the things we can’t control. If we focus on those we are setting ourselves for hurt. There’s literally nothing we can do about those so it’s best to let them go and focus on the things we can control. It will make our lives a lot easier.
Prompt: What are things you can control now? What are things you’d like to control but can’t? Let the latter go! #LessonsWithAKing

Lesson 112: Avoid Catastrophic Thinking

Lesson 112: Avoid Catastrophic Thinking
More often than not, when we have a catastrophic thought, they rarely ever come true. When we think the worst possible thing happening, while they might not happen, we are already making things head downhill for our mental health. It isn’t about hoping for sunshine and rainbows because those won’t always come. However, when we feel the catastrophic thought coming up, we take a step back and break the thought down because we will notice that, well, that is not what’s going on at all.
Prompt: What are some negative thoughts you’ve had that turned out to be untrue? #LessonsWithAKing
