This can suck sometimes but it’s just a fact in life: it’s about the people you know. Now, there are times merit counts sure but more often than not, that person got that opportunity because a friend pointed it to them. A friend dropped their name. A friend to a friend remembered that they are great a that required skill. So, yes, the friendships you build are important. Now, do not build friendships because of what you can get from the people but rather from what you can give to them.

That first message was typed but just before it went out, you thought things through and figured out, well, maybe this isn’t a good idea to share. Exactly!

When people believe something, I mean, truly believe it, it can be a difficult task trying to change their minds. What we have to do is simple: share the point you want to but don’t knock their beliefs. The more you knock their beliefs, the deeper they dig in.

I did talk about how expensive time can be. Well, there’s a neat calculation that can help you quantify that. Once you know how much your hour is worth, it will help you prioritize the actions you take in your life. If the thing you are doing isn’t worth your hourly pay, or doing anything to build towards your goals, cut it out right away then go and do the thing you are meant to be doing that will lead you to your goals.

Sure you get paid by the hour but you know what time always moves forward so if you have set time to do one thing yet use it for something else, there’s a great chance you won’t have time to do the original thing you had planned out to do. This piles up and it gets expensive. Guard your time and use your calendar religiously. If it’s not in the calendar, there’s a very good chance it won’t happen.
