Right now anyone can say anything and broadcast it to a ton of people with one click. It’s cool but it’s also super dangerous. Rather than focus on that, we should focus on what matters to us. We don’t have to read every tweet or even worse, reply to them. Understand this, most people stay behind their screens and spew things they might actually mean but can’t say in person. Do yourself a favour and see them for what they are, noise. Do you like noise? Exactly.

Do not ever think you are irreplaceable because nope you are not. If you are part of a team, do your work and play your role. Do not act like you are the king of the team, even if you are the leader. Focus on doing your part in helping the team achieve its goal but don’t think you are bigger than the team or worse, think without you the team can’t achieve its goal. Don’t be that person.

I love the show “The Knick”; it’s was different, unique, super well made, and interesting. One thing in the show was how “realistic” it was and then you find out that yup, cocaine was “medicinal”. It’s things like that that make me wonder about people that act like people don’t change. We change (well, mostly) based on the information we have. When we find something is wrong, we can put in the work to change. Not so long ago, cocaine was seen as medicinal but over the years we have come to realise, well, it isn’t a very good idea to use cocaine in that light. If you have information that changes your belief, you should be willing to embrace the change.

As a creator, it might seem scary that there’s nothing really new. If you take any song, movie, you will find elements of something else that’s existed before in the new creation. That might make you feel that you can’t create anything new or unique but that’s not true. When you are creating stuff, steal from super old influences. If you like something Person A did, find the inspiration for that thing and you’ll find that years ago, that thing Person A did was done by someone else, well, find inspiration from that and if you want, you can even go way back. Remember, you have to put your own essence in the thing you do end up creating.

We have our path mapped out but life throws a curveball and we have to play the new hand we’ve been dealt. The key is to be highly adaptable. Understand this: it isn’t easy but you should stay open because you might discover that this new path is even better than the original one planned.
